Brunton 8010 ECO baseplate compass — recycled acrylic baseplate, RPET lanyard, TruArc Global Needle, tool-free declination adjustment, map magnifier, 2-degree resolution. 1.3 oz. Made in USA.

The Brunton 8010 ECO is a full-featured baseplate compass made almost entirely from recycled and reclaimed acrylic, with a lanyard made from recycled soft drink bottles (RPET). The TruArc Global Needle tilts up to 20 degrees for balanced use worldwide. Tool-free declination adjustment lets you set magnetic north to true north quickly in the field. The high-contrast green/white azimuth ring provides fast, accurate readings. Map magnifier helps with fine map detail. At 1.3 oz, it's one of the lightest full-featured compasses available. Made in the USA in Riverton, Wyoming.

Why it works:

The TruArc Global Needle's 20-degree tilt tolerance means it works accurately anywhere in the world without the needle drag that affects hemisphere-specific compasses. Tool-free declination adjustment is a practical field advantage — you can correct for local declination without carrying a small tool. The recycled construction doesn't compromise any functional capability, making this the right choice for environmentally conscious navigators who don't want to sacrifice performance.

Ideal for: Hikers, backpackers, scouts, and eco-conscious outdoor enthusiasts who want a full-featured, lightweight baseplate compass made from recycled materials. See also the TruArc 10 (BRU037) for adventure racing and the TruArc 20 (BRU051) for mirror sighting.
