Return & Refund Policy

Thank you for shopping with Tangled Trails Outdoor Gear. We want you to love your gear. If something isn’t right, we’re here to help.

1. Eligibility for Returns

To be eligible for a return:

  • Your item must be unused, unwashed, and in the same condition that you received it.
  • All original tags, labels, and packaging must be intact.
  • You must have proof of purchase (order confirmation email or receipt).
  • Your return request must be made within 30 days of the delivery date.

Certain items are not eligible for return:

  • Final sale or clearance items (marked "Final Sale" or similar)
  • Gift cards
  • Downloadable or digital products
  • Used, worn, or damaged items (not due to our error)
  • Items with significant odors, stains, pet hair, or alterations

If you’re unsure whether your item is eligible, please contact us before sending it back.

2. Return Process

To initiate a return:

  1. Email us at customerservice@tangledtrailsgear.com with:

    • Your order number
    • The item(s) you’d like to return
    • Brief explanation of the reason (fit, defect, changed mind, etc.)
  2. We will respond with:

    • Return authorization (if approved)
    • Return shipping instructions
    • Any applicable return shipping details or label
  3. Pack your item securely, including:

    • All original packaging, tags, and accessories
    • A note with your name and order number inside the package
  4. Ship the item back using the instructions provided.

Return Shipping Costs

  • If the return is due to our error (wrong item, defective item, etc.), we will cover return shipping costs or provide a prepaid return label.
  • For all other returns (e.g., change of mind, wrong size), the customer is responsible for return shipping.
  • Original shipping charges are non-refundable, unless the return is due to our error.

3. Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your returned item, we will notify you by email that we have received your return and whether it has been approved.

  • If approved, your refund will be processed to your original method of payment within 5–10 business days.
  • The amount refunded will exclude any original shipping costs (unless the return is due to our error).
  • If your return is not approved (for example, the item is used or not in resellable condition), we will notify you and, if you wish, return the item to you at your cost.

Late or Missing Refunds

If you haven’t received a refund after we’ve confirmed it:

  1. Check with your bank or credit card company—it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
  2. If you still have not received your refund after 10 business days, please contact us at customerservice@tangledtrailsgear.com with your order number.

4. Exchanges

We currently handle exchanges by processing a return and a new purchase:

  1. Initiate a return for the original item by following the steps above.
  2. Place a new order for the item/size/color you would like instead.

This approach allows us to get your replacement gear shipped out faster and ensures availability.

If you received a defective or incorrect item, contact us at customerservice@tangledtrailsgear.com and we’ll make it right, either via replacement or refund.

5. Damaged or Defective Items

If your order arrives damaged or defective:

  • Contact us within 7 days of delivery at customerservice@tangledtrailsgear.com.
  • Include:
    • Your order number
    • Description of the issue
    • Clear photos of the product and packaging

We’ll review the issue and work with you on a replacement, store credit, or refund.

6. Non-Returnable Situations

We reserve the right to refuse returns in the following situations:

  • Items returned without prior authorization
  • Items returned after the return window has passed
  • Items not in their original condition (used, heavily worn, washed, altered, or damaged by the customer)
  • Items with missing tags, original packaging, or accessories
  • Excessive or abusive return behavior

7. International Orders 

  • Return shipping costs, customs fees, and import duties are the responsibility of the customer (unless the return is due to our error).
  • Original shipping costs, customs, duties, and taxes are non-refundable.
